GREEN BAY, Wis. -  The new drilling method of hydraulic fracturing (commonly known as "fracking") is transforming the economies of many American communities, but it is also literally transforming the companies trusted to serve the booming business. Schneider National, one of the nation's largest truckload carriers and a key transportation supplier to energy companies in the fracking industry, announced it has created a new service to support these companies.

"As energy companies began diving into this new world, they asked us to help meet their growing inbound and outbound transportation needs at the oil shale formations," says George Grossardt, vice president and general manager of Schneider's tanker division. "We applied our 75 years of transportation expertise to the challenge and rose to the occasion. This new business provides great pay and home time for Schneider drivers."

Schneider's new service is hitting the ground running and, as a result, needs to fill 500 permanent, full-time driving positions available in seven states - Wyoming, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana and New York - by the end of this year.

Drivers on these accounts will be trained to transport inbound materials such as sand and cement into the oil extraction areas as well as haul crude oil and condensate from the shale formations and move equipment in and around the work sites. These positions offer daily home time in many locations and an earnings potential of $60,000 (depending on experience and specific account). In addition, relocation assistance up to $2,500 may be available for drivers who do not currently live near a work area serviced by a Schneider customer.

San Antonio resident Luis Ruiz joined Schneider in July after 14 years of running over-the-road and regional routes for other carriers and has enjoyed his transition to the world of oil field transportation. "Every day I'm doing something different, and I like that," he says. "It makes the job exciting and keeps you focused. I also appreciate the great time at home I get - much more than when I was an over-the-road driver. My wife and little boy are happy I'm home every day."

In addition to home time, Schneider drivers appreciate the stability and steady work that comes with these new positions. "This is a great opportunity," sums up John Rosilez, a Katy, Texas, resident. Rosilez is one of 25 drivers who have spent the last several months working a predictable schedule hauling crude oil in the areas around Victoria, Texas. "There are other companies out here, but Schneider's pay is steady and fair, and they have better benefits than the rest. I really like it here."

Experienced drivers and recent truck driving school graduates (tuition reimbursement is available) with a valid Class A CDL are eligible. Tanker endorsement is required; Haz Mat endorsement is preferred for some of the positions and required in others.
